Enlightenment and Gnosis through Muraqaba Meditation

Enlightenment and Gnosis through Muraqaba Meditation

No I didn’t misspell Merkaba, because we will not be talking about Jewish Mysticism but we will discuss the proper techniques for a very powerful Sufi meditation.

“True knowledge of God is gained when
the lover comes in contact with the Beloved
through secret communion with Him.”
-Traditional Sufi Saying

“Muraqaba (مراقبة, an Arabic word meaning “to watch over”, “to take care of”, or “to keep an eye”), is the Sufi word for meditation. It implies that with meditation, a person watches over or takes care of his spiritual heart (or soul), and acquires knowledge about it, its surroundings, and its creator. This form of meditation is common amongst most Sufi orders and is a core concept for many tariqas.”

Here are the maqamat (Arabic: مقامات stages) in which Sufis have broadly categorised their journey of ascension:

This is the starting level of meditation. A person who starts meditation often enters a somnolent or sleep state (ghanood غنود). With the passage of time, the person goes into a state between sleep and wakefulness. The person can remember seeing something but not specifically what it is.

(Arabic: إدراك – cognition) With continuous practice of meditation, the sleepiness from meditation decreases. When the conscious mind is not suppressed by sleep and is able to focus, the person can receive the spiritual knowledge from his subconscious mind. At this stage, the person is unable to see or hear anything but is able to experience or perceive it.

(Arabic: ورود coming, beginning) When adraak (experience) becomes deep, it is exhibited as sight. The stage of warood starts when mental concentration is sustained and somnolence is at its minimum. As soon as the mind is focused, the spiritual eye is activated. The conscious mind is not used to see through the spiritual eye so concentration comes and goes. Gradually, the mind gets used to this kind of visions, and the mental focus is sustained. With practice, the visions/experience becomes so deep that the person starts considering himself a part of the experience rather than considering himself an observer.

Gnosis of the Universe

Kashaf’ / Ilhaam
Kashaf, or Ilhaam (Arabic: كشف/الهام unveiling of arcane knowledge) is the stage of starting to get information that most other people are unable to observe. In the beginning, this occurs suddenly, without personal control. With practice, the mind gets so energized that it can get this knowledge by will.

(Arabic: شهود evidence) A person can get any information about any event/person at will. This stage is broadly categorized according to activation of the senses:

The person can see things anywhere in the universe
The person can hear things anywhere in the universe
The person can smell things anywhere in the universe
The person can touch things anywhere in the universe (hadith)

(Arabic: فتح opening, victory) Closing eyes is no longer necessary for meditation. The person is freed from both space and time and can see/hear/taste/touch anything present anywhere in time and space.

Gnosis of Allah

Main article: Fanaa (Sufism)
(Arabic: فناء extinction, annihilation) Through a series of stages (maqamat) and subjective experiences (ahwal), this process of absorbation develops until complete annihilation of the self (fana) takes place, and the person becomes al-insanul-kamil, the “perfect man”. It is the disintegration of a person’s narrow self-concept, social self and limited intellect (feeling like a drop of water aware of being part of the ocean). The stage is also called Fana fit tawheed (“extinction with the unity”), and Fana fil Haq (Extinction in the reality).

Sair illallah
(Arabic: سيرٌ الى الله journey towards the God) The person starts his spiritual journey towards the ultimate reality of the universe, God. It is also called Safr-e-Urooji.

Fana fillah
(Arabic: فناء في الله Extinction of the self in God) One of the important phases of mystical experience is attained by the grace of God by a traveller on the mystical path. Now, the person becomes extinct in the will of God. It is important to mention that this is not incarnation or union. Most Sufis passing through this experience have preferred to live in the greatest depth of silence, which transcends all forms and sounds and to enjoy their union with the beloved.

The highest stage of fana is reached when even the consciousness of having attained fana disappears. This is what the Sufis call “the passing-away of passing-away” (fana al-fana). The mystic is now wrapped in contemplation of the divine essence.
(Nicholson, The Mystics of Islam, p. 60)

Since it is a state of complete annihilation of carnal self, absorbation or intoxication in God, the pilgrim is unable to participate in worldly affairs, and he is made to pass into another state known as Fana-al-Fana (forgetfulness of annihilation). It is a sort of oblivion of unconsciousness. Since two negatives make one positive, the pilgrim at this stage regains the individuality he had when he started the journey. The only difference is that in the beginning, he was self-conscious, but after having reposed in the Divine Being, he regains that sort of individuality that is God-consciousness or absorbation in God. This state is known as Baqa-bi-Allah: living or subsisting with God.
(Alhaj W.B.S. Rabbani, Gems of Sufi Gnosticism)

Sair min Allah
(Arabic: سير من الله journey from the God) Here the person comes back to his existence. It is also called Safr-e-Nuzooli.

No one can subsist with God, and to believe as such is shirk. What really happens is the person’s awareness of God increases so much so that he forgets his own self and is totally lost in his magnificence.

Baqaa billah
(Arabic: بقاء بالله eternal life in God The Creator) This is the state in which man comes back to his existence and God appoints him to guide the humans. The individual is part of the world but unconcerned about rewards or position in the world. The doctrine is further explained[improper synthesis?] in Sahih Bukhari, which states that God said:

“And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks.”

There is another verse from Qur’an that is used to explain this concept:

“We are nearer to him than his jugular vein.” (50:16)

When Sufis have come out of the Fana fillah state and enter Baqa billah, many of them have produced works of unsurpassed glory, especially in the fields of philosophy, literature and music. Such works have crowned the culture of the entire Islamic world and inspired Sufis and non-Sufis for generations. As the great Persian Sufi poet, Hafez of Shiraz, fondly remembered as the “tongue of the unseen”, said centuries ago: “He whose heart is alive with love, never dies”.

The Qur’an says:

“Lo, indeed, the friends of God have no fear, nor are they grieved”.

merkaba egyptian temple
Merkaba, also spelled Merkabah, is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. “Mer” means Light. “Ka” means Spirit. “Ba” means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.
The Merkaba is a crystalline energy field that is comprised of specific sacred geometries that align the mind, body, and heart together. This energy field created from sacred geometry extends around the body for a distance of 55 feet. These geometric energy fields normally spin around our bodies at close to the speed of light, but for most of us they have slowed down or stopped spinning entirely due to a lack of attention and use. When this field is reactivated and spinning properly, it is called a Merkaba. A fully activated Merkaba looks just like the structure of a galaxy or a UFO.
The Merkaba enables us to experience expanded awareness, connects us with elevated potentials of consciousness, and restores access and memory of the infinite possibilities of our being. When the Merkaba meditation is performed correctly, the Merkaba fluidly integrates our feminine (intuitive, receptive) and masculine (active, dynamic) aspects of our mind and spirit.

Microcosmic Orbit – Self Winding Wheel of the Law
The ‘Microcosmic Orbit’, also known as the ‘Self Winding Wheel of the Law’ and the circulation of light is a Taoist Qigong or Taoist yoga Qi energy cultivation technique. It involves deep breathing exercises in conjunction with meditation and concentration techniques which develop the flow of qi along certain pathways of energy in the human body which may be familiar to those who are studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong, T’ai chi ch’uan, Neidan and Taoist alchemy. The exercise can be performed usually at first in a sitting position, but it can also be practiced standing as in Zhan zhuang or with movements included as with T’ai chi ch’uan. The clear understanding of the microcosmic orbit technique is very important not only because of its historical context in the story of Chinese alchemy but because it is at the heart of many Taoist forms of exercise performed throughout the world by many millions of people today.
Merkaba Metatron

Sit or stand- whatever is comfortable for you.

Close your eyes.

Visualize the merkaba field that surrounds your body.

You are going to create balance within that field.

Once you have done this – the energies will begin to rotate

and your consciousness will spiral to a higher frequency.

See a rod of white light moving through the apex of the merkaba

moving down through your chakras

aligning them with each other and the light.

Continue as the rod of light completes its journey

and aligns the apex of the female tetrahedron with

the apex of the male above.

As is Above now aligns with So is Below.

You may feel dizzy as the energies begin to rotate.

The tetrahedrons of the merkaba spin in both directions

clock-wise and counter clock-wise simultaneously.

Once you have balanced and moved through

the energies, spiral your merkaba outward.

Watch as your merkaba grows larger and larger as it spins

connecting the merkaba of planet Earth

then growing ever large until it connects with the Merkaba of the Universal Grid.

You are now One with Universe and Creation.

Experience the energies.

Learn about creation.

Understand how we are all connected and how we create.

You may see geometric shapes – symbols – hear tones – see unusual lights.

Wait for a message that is meant for you.

Merkaba Crop Circle DNA Activation Image by Lucy Pringle
August 13, 2014. Gussage St Andrews, Nr Sixpenny Handley, Dorset, United Kingdom 200+ feet diameter in wheat field. Large complex formation consisting of a star tetrahedron, hexagram and six `Caduceus` like wands surrounding a hexagon with three inner rings.

DIVINE ALIEN INTERVENTION: This crop circle pulls you in and activates your star DNA and its human evolution like a universal magnet – I call it the ‘Galactic Om of Cosmic Fission-Fusion’.

SACRED GEOMETRY: The sacred geometry in this divine ‘crop circle’ art is a very transformative piece to breakdown, process, and meditate with. What do you see in this complex, but simple creative design?

GALACTIC OM: The Om-Amen-Ohm chant holds within it the wisdom of the very ancient teachings of Lemuria and Atlantis. Do you remember the past history of our planet?

Within this sacred cosmic knowledge lies the energy that holds all physical matter and life together. These bonds hold atoms (Adam), particles, and molecules together. From the smallest of nanoparticles (microcosm) to the massive Universe (macrocosm) itself. All of its massive macroparticles are tetrahedral. Our DNA is being restructured from 2 stems to 12 stemmed DNA.

DUALITY: The principle of day and night, the yin-yang, positive-negative electricity, and the concept of (light and dark) opposites exists everywhere in this basic tetrahedral model. By meditating on the Merkaba ‘Star Tetrahedron’ we are able to merge with the Source, the Divine, and the Cosmic-self.

DOUBLE MERKABA: The Merkaba (Star Tetrahedron) is an ancient symbol which represents ‘All is One’. We are now being called to consciously activate our ‘Merkaba Body of Light’ energy fields to be vehicles for the anchoring of Galactic codes and frequencies. This will alter the density of the planet and trigger the ascension of Earth and all its inhabitants into the Golden Age. This can be considered the ‘double merkaba’.

PLATO’S BABIES: Platonic Solids are shapes which form part of Sacred Geometry. They were first catalogued by the ancient philosopher Plato (hence the name). However, evidence of these magical of shapes has been found around the world for thousands of years prior to Plato’s documentation.

They are made up of the ‘Five Convex Regular Polyhedra’: hexahedron (cube), octahedron (double inverted pyramid), tetrahedron (pyramid), Icosohedron and dodecahedron. The names are derived from the number of sides each shape has: 4, 6, 8, 12, and 20.

The first four shapes correspond with the elements: earth (hexahedron), air (octahedron), fire (tetrahedron) and water (Icosohedron), with the fifth, dodecahedron, representing heaven, and the etheric Universe.

STAR of DAVID: The 6-pointed Star Tetrahedron is also called a Double Tetrahedron and is made up of two 3-dimensional interlocking Tetrahedrons. Each face is an identical triangle, each side is equal, and the angles are the same. The two interlocking triangles are also known as the 6-pointed ‘Star of David’, ‘Merkaba’ or ‘Vehicle of the Light-body’.

The Merkaba is an extremely powerful symbol. It is a combination of two star tetrahedrons – one pointing up to the heavens, channeling energy down from the Universe to the Earth, and one pointing downwards, drawing energy up from the Earth. This crop circle symbolizes the male-female energy fields within our Universe. The top, or upward pointing tetrahedron is male and rotates clockwise, with the bottom or downwards pointing one being female, which rotates counterclockwise.

Each of the outer 12 points of the crop circle are equally distant from one another. (6 in star of David + 6 staffs with the spiraling DNA of 6 snakes climbing up them in 6 different directions- East, West, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest). The design’s energy naturally flows and there is no strain or tension in it.

If you were to draw a three-dimensional Octahedron, you would find that it is comprised of not just 2 Tetrahedrons, but in actual fact 8 Tetrahedrons. The top half of the Octahedron is made of 4 Tetrahedrons coming together to form a 4 sided pyramid, and then the bottom half of the Octahedron comprises another set of 4 Tetrahedrons in mirror image.

Our Octahedron Body of Light naturally resonates simultaneously in a Merkabah activation formation, representing our multi-dimensional connections ‘as above, so below’. The Merkaba energy field normally spins around and through our body at various frequencies and speeds. This all depends on our attunement (level of consciousness) in each and every moment.

These 4 Merkabas then merge together to create 2 sets of Merkabas (as per the Law of Polarity), represented as a 12 pointed Stellated Dodecahedron held together by a 13th central zero point field. Many healers see the Merkaba Body of Light surround the physical body as a six pointed star formation. However the energetic meridians of this formation runs energy through 12 points, which aligns through the 13th zero point field of the Heart – this is the zero point field of the triple Heart – ie the Heart of the Galaxy, Heart of the Earth and Heart of the Physical Body. I call this formation a ‘Double Merkaba’.

The ‘Double Merkaba’ represents the 13 sacred keys, the 12 months of the cosmic zodiac, and the shape of our energy system in the first 13 universal dimensions. It refers to the original 12,000 members of the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ, and the 12 crystal skulls in the ancient Mayan prophecy. It’s also no coincidence that the Mayan & Hopi prophecies relate to the date of 12/21/12 as a sign of the end times when a shift of consciousness starts on Earth. Since each of its outer 12 points is equally distant from each other, it flows and there is obviously no strain or tension in it.

The 13th point is an invisible point directly in the middle of the 3 concentric circles and the crop circle itself. Remember, the number 13 is symbolized by Jesus Christ, Horus, and the 13th Mayan crystal skull holding the encoded plan of 12 star nations involved in our creation. The 13 crystal skull is the Earth, it holds the knowledge of everything!

The 3 concentric circles within the hexagon of the crop circle illustrate the ancient architecture of Atlantis and the center of this energy field. Within this hexagram sits 7 diffrent areas (6 circles + 1 outside 6-sided hexagon area. This can represent the 7 continents and the 7 oceans.

The ‘Flower of Life’ is imagined from the hexagon, where each leaf points to one corner of the hexagon. The Flower of Life is a geometrical figure composed of evenly spaced, overlapping circles, arranged so that they form a flower-like pattern. Each circle has a six-fold symmetry like a hexagon, i.e. the middle of each circle is intersected by six other circles of the same size or diameter.

The oldest example of this shape found so far is in The Temple of Osiris in Egypt. Other examples can be found in Phoenician, Assyrian, Middle Eastern, and European medieval art. The design of the Flower of Life contains the basis of Metatron’s Cube, and the five forms we know as the Platonic Solids are derived from this shape.

By meditating on the Merkaba, you can more easily connect with your Higher Self and this can help to align your spiritual, mental, emotional and physical bodies. The Egyptian word ‘Merkaba’ can be broken down in order to understand the concept more clearly. “Mer” is translated into the word “Light”. “Ka” would refer to the spirit and “Ba” refers to the physical realm and body. Merkaba means the Spirit and Body surrounded by counter rotating fields of Light.

METATRON’S CUBE: It is this ‘orb’ Merkaba vehicle that transports our Spirit/Body from one dimension to another. Thus the Merkaba helps us to fully activate our Light Body Crystalline Matrix multi-dimensionally through the 13 levels of experience (dimensions) of our Galaxy – ie Metatron’s Cube.

Thus our activated Merkaba Body of Light, the 12 pointed Stellated Dodecahedron of Light (through the 13th central point) is the vehicle that supports our conscious connection with the 13 Spheres of Metatron’s Cube. It is this vehicle that supports the awakening of our DNA and the quantum leap into enlightenment. It is made of thirteen equal sized circles. If you connect the centre of each circle to the others with a straight line, you end up with 78 lines in total.

ARCHANGEL: Archangel Metatron supposedly formed the cube from his soul, and Metatron is also a reference to the highest Kabbalistic angel who sits at Kether, or the God Head. Metatron’s cube is also considered a holy glyph, and was often drawn around a person to ward off evil spirits and dark entities. It is present in many of the ancient mysteries including Egyptian mythology, ancient Judaic teachings and in alchemy. It is a primordial and very powerful image.

GOOD LUCK STARCHILDREN: When we are in conscious connection with the 13 Divine Laws of Creation through the 13 Sacred Keys of this simultaneous formation of our Merkaba we express ourselves as a fractal of the ‘Omni-verse’ and the entire potential field of Creation.
